Terms of use
Terms of use and license
These terms cover every Trailpost product you buy or download, free ones included, and Trailpost Plus. By buying, downloading, or using a Trailpost product, you agree to them.
Last updated October 26, 2026
The short version
- One purchase covers one group. That is one family, one classroom, or one homeschool group.
- Use it as much as you like inside that group. Print it, reuse it every year, and post it where only your students can reach it.
- Don't share it outside that group. Other families, teachers, and co-ops need their own copy.
- Never post it publicly. That covers the files, the play-in-browser links, and any copies you edit.
1. Who one license covers
When you buy a Trailpost product, you are buying a license to use it. You choose which kind of group the license is for.
- A family
- Everyone who lives in your household. Parents and guardians can use it with all of their own children.
- A classroom
- One teacher and the students in the classes that teacher teaches. Co-teachers, aides, and substitutes may use it while they work with those same students.
- A homeschool group
- One teacher or leader and the students in the class, co-op, pod, or microschool group they lead. It does not cover the other families in a co-op using it at home, or other leaders teaching their own groups. Each of them needs their own license.
A license does not expire. When you get a new set of students in the same role, you may keep using it with them.
2. What you may do
- Print or copy as many pages as your own students need.
- Share the files and play-in-browser links with your students in a place only they can reach. Examples are Google Classroom, a school learning management system, a private class page, or an email to your students and their families.
- Load SCORM or HTML files into your own learning management system for your own students.
- Edit or adapt the material for your own students.
- Keep backup copies for yourself.
- Show the product on screen and talk about it in reviews, as long as you don't share the files.
3. What you may not do
- Post the files, play-in-browser links, or edited copies anywhere the public can reach them. That includes websites, blogs, social media, Facebook groups, open Google Drive links, file-sharing sites, and other teacher marketplaces.
- Give or send copies to other teachers, families, co-ops, schools, or districts, even for free. Send them to the Trailpost shop instead.
- Sell, resell, rent, or sublicense any part of a product, including edited versions.
- Remove the Trailpost name or copyright notices, or present the work as your own.
- Use the products to train artificial intelligence models, or to make products you sell or give away.
- Share a Trailpost Plus login with anyone outside your household.
4. Need it for more people?
Each additional family, teacher, or group needs its own license. To cover a whole co-op, a grade-level team, a school, or a district, email [email protected] and ask about multiple licenses.
5. Trailpost Plus
Trailpost Plus is a membership for a set number of students, at home or in a classroom. Six students are included, and you can add more for a fee. One adult holds the account and signs in; each student gets a name and a PIN, and only the students you have set up may use the membership. A student's name can be a nickname: you don't need to enter a child's real name unless you want to. The sign-in may not be shared with anyone else. Files you download during your membership follow the group license in section 1, for the family, classroom, or homeschool group your students belong to.
- Free trial
- When the monthly plan is offered with a free trial, checkout asks for a card and charges nothing that day. The trial gives the full membership for the number of days shown at checkout, one week unless stated otherwise. When it ends, Shopify charges $19 and the membership continues as the monthly plan, renewing each month until you cancel. Cancel before the trial ends and you are not charged; access lasts until the end of the trial. We email you when the trial starts with the date of the first charge. A referral code's free month is added at the first paid charge.
- Renewal and cancelling
- Monthly ($19) and yearly ($149) memberships, and student add-ons, renew automatically at the then-current price until you cancel. Shopify charges the card you used at checkout. You can cancel at any time from your Trailpost Plus account, or by emailing [email protected]. Cancelling stops the next charge, and you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for. We email yearly members before each renewal, and we give at least 30 days' notice by email before any price change.
- Refunds
- We don't give partial refunds for time you didn't use. If you were charged by mistake, or Trailpost Plus doesn't work for you and we can't fix it, email us within 14 days of the charge and we will refund it.
- Lifetime (early-adopter) plan
- The $99 lifetime plan is a one-time payment, offered to the first 60 families. It gives one account Trailpost Plus, with six students and the content included for members, for as long as Trailpost offers Trailpost Plus. It never renews, and it can't be transferred or resold. Student add-ons are billed separately. If Trailpost Plus ever closes, we will give lifetime members at least 90 days' notice by email, and if it closes within three years of your purchase we will refund a share of the $99 for each full year remaining.
6. Free products
Products you download for free follow the same rules as paid ones. You may use them with your own family, classroom, or group. Please send other people to the free page instead of passing the files along.
7. Who owns the work
Trailpost keeps the copyright to all of its products. A license lets you use a product. It does not transfer ownership. Some products include public-domain or openly licensed photos and text, which are credited inside the product and keep their own licenses.
Edumon is the exception. It is built on Tuxemon, which is free software under the GNU General Public License, version 3 or later, and its art, music, and maps come from many artists under Creative Commons and other open licenses. Nothing in these terms limits the rights those licenses give you. Credits and the game's source code are at edumongame.com/credits. The Edumon question library and Edumon's own story and dialogue are Trailpost's work and follow these terms.
8. Purchases and problems
Checkout is handled by Shopify. Products are digital and are delivered right after you buy. If a file won't open or doesn't match its listing, email [email protected] and we will work with you to fix it.
9. If the terms are broken
If you share a product outside your license, your license ends. Trailpost may ask you to take down copies you posted, and may send takedown notices to the sites that host them.
10. Using the products
We work hard to make every product accurate and classroom-ready, but products are provided as they are. You decide whether a product suits your students, and you supervise any activities. To the extent the law allows, Trailpost's responsibility for any claim about a product is limited to the amount you paid for it.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top of this page shows the latest version. Changes apply to purchases and downloads made after that date.
12. Privacy
How we handle your information and your students' information is explained in our Privacy Policy.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, United States.
14. Questions
Not sure whether your situation is covered? Email [email protected] and ask. We are happy to help you find the right license.
