Privacy Policy
Many of the people who use Trailpost are children. We collect as little as we can, we never sell it, and we never use it for advertising.

The short version
- An adult holds every account. Students never give us an email address and can't sign up on their own.
- You don't need to enter a child's real name. A nickname or initials work just as well, unless you want to use a real name.
- We use student information only to run Trailpost Plus and Edumon. No ads, no selling, no tracking.
- You can see, change, or delete it any time. Delete a student in your account, or email [email protected].
1. What this policy covers
This policy covers trailposteducation.com, Trailpost Plus, edumongame.com, and the Edumon game, all run by Trailpost Education ("Trailpost", "we"). Checkout happens on our Shopify store, which is also covered by Shopify's store privacy policy.
2. What we collect from parents and teachers
- Your email address, to send sign-in links and messages about your account.
- Your order and subscription details from Shopify: your plan, its dates, and your order number. We never see your card.
- Your email address, if you sign up for our emails or a free sample. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
- Anything you send us by email.
3. What we collect about students
A parent or teacher adds each student. For each student we store:
- the name you type. A nickname or initials are fine: you don't need to enter a child's real name unless you want to;
- their grade;
- a 4-digit PIN, stored only in scrambled (hashed) form;
- which games and lessons they may use, and which one they played last;
- their Edumon saved game, so they can carry on from another device.
In Edumon, the student also types a name for their character, which is saved with the game. In Friend Battle, the other player sees that character name and the creatures on the team. Friend Battle has no chat. Encourage your student to pick a game name rather than their real name.
Edumon played with a classroom license key, without Trailpost Plus, stores nothing about the student with us except the saved game, if one is made. The key and a random device code are checked against our license server, and that code can't identify anyone.
4. How we use it
Only to run Trailpost Plus and Edumon: signing you in, showing each student the right lessons and games, and saving their progress. We don't show ads, we don't sell or rent information, and we don't build profiles of students for any other purpose.
5. Parents' rights and consent
When you add a student, you confirm that you are their parent or legal guardian, or a teacher adding them for school use with your school's permission. Parents can ask us at any time to see the information we hold about their child, to correct it, to delete it, or to stop collecting more. Delete a student in your Trailpost Plus account, or email [email protected]. Deleting a student removes their information, including their saved game.
6. Teachers and schools
When a teacher uses Trailpost with a class, we use student information only for the school's educational purpose and under the school's direction. We never use it for advertising. We will sign a standard student data privacy agreement when a school or district asks for one.
7. Services that handle data for us
- Cloudflare hosts our sites and stores account and student data.
- Shopify runs checkout and subscriptions.
- Our email-sending service delivers sign-in links and account emails.
- GitHub (pygame-web.github.io) serves the files the Edumon game engine needs, and some pages load fonts from Google Fonts. These see ordinary technical details such as your IP address, as any website does.
We don't share information with anyone else, except when the law requires it.
8. Cookies and analytics
One cookie keeps a parent or teacher signed in. Cloudflare Web Analytics counts page visits without using cookies. The game stores its saves and settings in the browser on the device. We use no advertising or tracking cookies.
9. How long we keep it
We keep student information while your membership is active. We delete it within 90 days after your membership ends, or sooner if you ask. We keep order records for as long as tax law requires.
10. Keeping it safe
Data is stored with Cloudflare and sent over encrypted connections. PINs are stored scrambled, sign-in links expire after 15 minutes, and only Trailpost's owner can reach the stored data. If a breach ever affected your information, we would tell you promptly.
11. Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we post the new version here with a new date. If a change affects how we use students' information, we email account holders before it takes effect.
12. Contact
Questions, or a request to see or delete information: email [email protected].
